The Minimum Operational Data Standard (MODS) API provides a consistent, nationally mandated baseline for recording and exchanging core adult social care data across digital systems. MODS underpins Digital Social Care Records (DSCR) and defines the minimum data items and definitions required for CQC-registered providers and their technology suppliers.
This API enables interoperability by standardising demographic, care, and operational data capture, reducing duplication, and supporting integrated care. MODS compliance is mandated under section 250 of the Health and Social Care Act 2012 and forms part of the Digitising Social Care programme.
